Minimum Requirements: URS currently has an opening for a Principal Consultant to provide business development, team management, technical and project management support to our Environmental Assessment Team. In recent months the team have won a number of high profile urban regeneration, oil and gas, energy and transportation projects and frameworks which require support from team members at the principal level.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong experience in an environmental consultancy. It would be beneficial if the candidate also had a technical specialism such as air quality, noise and variation, ecology and biodiversity, waste management, water and flood risk.
We are looking for the following requirements :
Knowledge:
Proven knowledge of EIA regulations and current Best Practice Guidance
Skills:
Ability to work with internal teams throughout the business
Ability to represent the business to clients

Excellent communication and networking skills
Experience:
Staff management experience as well as experience in project direction
Proven track record of EIA consulting services
Qualifications:
Good first and second degree in a related subject and preferably in Environmental Impact Assessment
Job Description: The purpose of the role is to lead on EIA projects and develop the EIA business. The role exists to offer support to colleagues, to provide knowledge and expertise in the assessment and management environmental issues and to help in the company objective of expanding environmental services both in the UK and internationally.
Key responsibilities include :
To manage and deliver Scoping Reports, EIA's and related studies to the highest standard to ensure efficient and timely delivery with planning applications
To work with other teams to ensure appropriate delivery of all EIA chapters
To provide technical input to projects and proposals and to continuously improve our service offering for our clients. I particular provide technical expertise in the area of technical specialism (e.g. Air Quality, Acoustics, Ecology & Biodiversity, Water & Floor Risk).
To play a lead role in developing new clients and new proposal opportunities
To identify and generate additional commercial opportunities in the course of project work and with existing clients
To develop proposals for EIA and related projects
To ensure health and safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project
